Assam Police Vigilant Towards Foreigners Participating, All district cops units in Assam have been ordered by the state cops. To keep an eye out for foreigners, who attend religious activities there.
Ten foreigners- three Swedish and seven German nationals—were reportedly detained. Due to allegedly breaking visa rules and some provisions of the Foreigners Act, prompting the Assam Police to issue the directive.
According to authorities, they reportedly attended a religious event on Wednesday in the Assamese district of Dibrugarh.
Due to the trio’s attendance at the prayer and peace meeting in a location under the Namrup police station in the Dibrugarh district while in possession of a tourist visa, the Dibrugarh district police had opened a suo moto case against them.
“They used a tourist visa to travel to Assam, but they had previously participated in a religious (prayer and peace) programme in Dibrugarh district.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Dibrugarh), Bitul Chetia, “They arrived to Assam using a tourist Visa, but they had attended a religious (prayer and peace) activity in a neighbourhood under Namrup police station in Dibrugarh district.
The police officer added that the defendant will be fined and deported to Sweden after complying with the court’s order.
