Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, and Sandeep Pathak, the national organising secretary, are expected to travel to Assam in the first half of March, Assam party leaders announced this on Monday.
In New Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, the convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Sandeep Pathak met with Bhaben Choudhury and a number of other top party officials.
The team took stock of the different development projects carried out by the Kejriwal administration during the Friday interaction. These projects include clinics in Mohallas and a major transformation of Delhi’s public schools.
According to Lakshmikanta Dubey, the party’s state joint-coordinator, Arvind Kejriwal and Sandeep Pathak’s visit to Assam will naturally give the AAP organisation in the state a boost.
The pair will lay out a plan for the Panchayat elections and the Lok Sabha elections when they are in Assam, he continued. It is reported that Kejriwal has not been visiting Assam for a number of years and his next trip will mark his official return to Assam since taking office as Chief Minister.
Notably, AAP stood out during the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) elections the previous year. In every district in Assam, the party has its own committee. AAP withdrew from running in the Assam assembly elections in 2021.
The main justification offered by the party is a lack of organisational power. The leaders added that they did not want the votes to be divided between the regional parties, Raijor Dal and Assam Jatiya Parishad.
