Meghalaya’s Irene Dkhar crowned Miss Northeast 2022

Irene Dkhar of Meghalaya was named “Miss Northeast 2022” on Thursday during a spectacular ceremony held at the capital cultural venue in Kohima.

If given the chance to speak with world leaders, her final response, in which she argued that it was important to address mental health concerns among young people as a social issue, won her the title.

Among the 15 competitors from the eight northeastern states, Dkhar was chosen as the victor. Along with gift baskets and a monetary prize of Rs. 1.5 lakh, the new Miss Northeast was recognised. Eshanee Hatimuria of Assam, the first runner-up, and Dyna Jomo of Arunachal Pradesh, the second runner-up, were next to her. Jomo received Rs 70,000, while Hatimuria received Rs 1 lakh.

In cooperation with the Government of Nagaland, the Beauty and Aesthetic Society of Nagaland (BASN) hosted the pageant. Supermodel Ketholeno Kense Vihienuo, Yamaha artist Nise Meruno, designer Bambi Kevichüsa, and poet, educator, and author Theyiesinuo Keditsu were among the panellists.
