In order to conduct the HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) examination in 2023, the SEBA (Board of Secondary Education, Assam) will use a completely new format.
The examinations will start on March 3 and conclude on March 20. The days of the practical exams are February 24 and 25.
According to sources, Nayan Jyoti Sarmah, the SEBA’s Controller of Examinations, said: “Each core subject has a total of 100 points, with the objective paper carrying 45 points, the descriptive paper bearing 45 points, and the internal assessment carrying ten points. The schools have already turned in their candidates’ internal evaluation results.”
Sarmah spoke about the examination system as follows: “At 8:35 am, the applicants would receive eight-page response booklets for the objective questions. At 8:45 am, they will receive 16-page response sheets for the descriptive questions.
In the descriptive papers, candidates may bring more sheets (loose paper). Both the objective and the descriptive answer sheets need students to fill out the area provided on the front page with their information. The two response sheets will be turned in by the students linked together with the objective paper on top. The invigilators are to inform the candidates on the rules.”
Sarmah stated: “The answer sheet for the descriptive mathematics paper is 16 pages long and includes graph sheets. Answer sheets for the advanced mathematics exam will be 24 pages long. There will also be 16-page answer booklets for the MIL (Modern Indian Languages) exams. If necessary, the candidates may use additional sheets.”
4,22,196 candidates, according to Sarmah, would take the tests at 912 testing facilities. “The number of applicants is lower than in 2022. Contrarily, we have added nine additional testing locations,” he explained.
