Union Minister John Barla, Christian deserves the recognition they deserved: Nagaland

According to Union Minister John Barla, despite making significant contributions to nation-building, the country’s Christian population has not received the recognition they merit.

Speaking on Sunday at a National Christian Council event in Dimapur, Nagaland, he urged members of the community to band together to inform the nation of their contributions both before and after independence.

According to him, students who attended institutions established by the Christian community have gone on to become IAS officials, physicians, engineers, and even political figures.

Are we required to inform the populace of the contributions we have made to the nation? Barla, the Minister of State (MoS) for Minority Affairs, claimed that the reason why we don’t garner recognition is because we don’t blast our own horn.

“We have contributed greatly to the development of our country, but our churches continue to be demolished,” he lamented.

The leader in nation-building, he continued, Christians are not a threat to the nation.

“We constructed schools, hospitals, and ashrams before India gained its independence, and we continue to serve the nation’s citizens today. We were not treated with respect during the past administrations, but this administration has given me the duty to go to the populace and urge them to have faith in the current administration because it is not hostile to Christians,” he said.
