Maoist Cadre Recruitment: NIA Files Chargesheet Against 5 People

In a case involving the radicalization and recruiting of innocent kids into the Communist Party of India (Maoist), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against five people, the agency said on Tuesday.

As a result of a complaint on the hiring of one Radha into the ranks of the CPI (Maoist), an outlawed group, the anti-terror agency filed a chargesheet against the five accused before a special court in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

According to the complaint, Dongari Devendra, Dubasi Swapna, and Chukka Shilpa persuaded Radha to join the Chaitanya Mahila Sangham (CMS), radicalised her, and then recruited her to the outlawed CPI (Maoist), which was managed by underground Maoists RK (now deceased), Uday, and Aruna.

According to the NIA, the investigation so far has shown that the accused Dongari Devendra, Dubasi Swapna, and Chukka Shilpa did in fact lure impressionable young girls to the CMS organisation under the pretence of social work, and that depending on their commitment to the group, those girls would be identified and sent to the CPI (Maoist), a banned group.

It claimed that Radha, the missing girl, had been brought to the jungles by Devendra under the pretence of providing medical care to someone, and that Uday and Aruna had forced her to join the illegal group.

The agency stated that “the role of the CMS, an organisation, and other leaders of CMS, in the greater plot, is being investigated.”

The complaint was first filed by Visakhapatnam’s Peddabayalu Police Station, then on June 3 of this year, the NIA refiled. (ANI)
